Let’s Use a Little Lace!

by Patter Cross (Nov 3, 2009)

Do you use ribbon on your layouts and cards?  Have you thought about using lace instead?  It gives your creations a bit of a different look, and it is fun to use. Let's look at a few creations using lace.

Heritage Layouts

Lace works really well on heritage layouts.  In the past, a lot of women's fashions had lace on them, and lace works really well for these layouts.  Here Jen Evans shows us a stunning heritage layout using lace.

Look how the lace just goes perfectly with her papers and that beautiful heritage photo.  Lace truly is the perfect touch for this creation.

In this heritage layout, I love how Susan Coish used the black lace as a frame around her father's photo.  What a unique and perfect addition for this heritage layout!

Everyday Creations

Tanis Giesbrecht used lace on this altered canvas.  This is perfect for hanging in a home and really gave her canvas beautiful dimension.  The lace also goes so well with her crocheted flowers.  I just love this creation.

Lace on Cards

Here is another creation by Susan Coish.  [K1] She wrapped her paper in lace then added Pop Dots behind to give it dimension.  It looks like two awnings, giving this stunning card a fun and modern feel.

Distressing the edges of your layouts and cards is a great technique to use when using lace.  It can really enhance the look.  Here is a card I created by adding lace and distressing the edges of the paper.

These are just a few examples of how to use lace on your layouts and cards.  If you have not tried using lace yet, I hope you will take up the challenge and give it a try!  Have fun!
