I went along day to day, searching for a purpose. I never thought I would make a good mother and had just told every one that I wasn’t having kids. Two days later, I found out I was pregnant with you. My life changed in an instant and I have never looked back. You have brought peace and joy back into my life. I laugh at things that I have not laughed at in years. You have given me permission to be silly again. I can dance and sing with abandon and you just join in. I now have a person to tell stories to. They are about you and you love to listen. You ask question after question, making me think and look at things with new eyes. I have learned so much just being around you. I now have some patience, not enough all of the time but more then I have had. You have taught me kindness. In order to show you what being human is all about, I need to show you how to bring joy in others life, to set the example. This has made me a better person. I am no longer allowed to be selfish but look for ways to show kindness to others. You have showed me how to love unconditionally. I remember this feeling with my mother but when she died, I thought it had died with her. When you were born, a fierce, protective bond overwhelmed me. I know now that I was meant to be your mother. And eventually I will have to let you go. But for now, you are mine to love.
